From the Director

The emerging challenges imposed by climate and climate change demand for scientists, experts and professionals with a holistic view on the climate system. Climate impacts on the natural and managed environment, on our life-support systems, economy, and society are of pressing concern both today and in the future.

This challenge calls for an appropriate and novel educational scheme and a curriculum outside the traditional disciplines to provide you as a prospective MSc or PhD student with the scientific basis and the necessary skills.

The University of Bern Graduate School of Climate Sciences (MSc and PhD) is run by the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research and offers an educational scheme and training opportunities for the future climate scientists and professionals. You assemble your curriculum from a broad range of elective courses in the fields of climate and atmospheric sciences, Earth and biological sciences, economics and social sciences. The tailor-made curriculum gives you the appropriate scientific knowledge and personal skill to take leadership in science, business and administration.

The Graduate School brings together dedicated individuals with different expertise and scientific background. You are invited to join us for this challenge and to learn with us.
